Mickey Mouse Birthday Party

My son turned 5 recently and the theme for his birthday party, as he requested, was Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. My sister made the invitations from paper and glued the buttons. Absolutely adorable!

This is the first year we invited his school friends so I knew we would need games and activities. When the kids arrived I had tables set up with play-doh in all colors for the kids to enjoy. Once everyone arrived we did a rousing game of Pin the Parts on Mickey. The kids enjoyed it so much! They played it over and over.

The big game I had arranged was an attempt to recreate a scene from the cartoon. I am fortunate enough to have a large family who is also willing to dress up when I ask them too. So we had Mickey, Minnie, Daisy, Donald, Pete, Clarabell, Goofy, Pluto, Chip, and Toodles. Once I rounded up a couple of kids I started with the game. Goofy had lost his shoe and needed our help to find it! So Toodles and the gang of Mouseketeers went to help Goofy. Along the way they ran into Pluto, Clarabell, Chip, and Daisy. Each had a problem the kids needed to help with. Pluto had lost his collar in the ball-pit, Clarabell had holes in her bucket and her chicks got out, Chip needed help collecting nuts for winter, and Daisy spotted Goofy's shoe but couldn't quite see it. So we checked Toodles to see what we Mouseketool we needed at each stop. The kids absolutely loved the games! It was a great time.

We then went inside for cake and ice cream which were followed by presents. The kids played the games over and over! It was a great success.

Our table looked great!

For the take-homes I used small buckets that I found at Party City for about $.99 each. I put Mickey Mouse stickers on them and then put tissue paper inside to help fill them. The toys inside were just a few trinkets they could play with. I only did a couple that were Mickey Mouse specific. I did find ears and that really made them just adorable! Plus I included a Mickey Mouse Oreo Favor, which I will tell you about later.

So as far as food for this one I tried to keep it kid-friendly but also included a few items the adults would enjoy. I made one of my favorite appetizers Pecan Cheese Spread because I knew I could shape it into a Mickey Mouse head.

Pecan Cheese Spread: You mix 3-4 tablespoons of mayo with a 2 cup bag of shredded cheddar cheese and a 2 cup bag of colby/ monterey jack cheese. Shape it into whatever you would like. Top it with one can of pepper jelly. I usually take a jar of the red and a jar of the green and mix them. Put enough to cover all parts of the cheese. You will probably have some left over if you've mixed the two jars. Then you top it with chopped pecans. It is delicious over crackers! It's quick and easy too. Just keep it in the fridge until you are ready to put it out. I've made it for football parties too. It's really cute in the shape of a football!

I had popcorn, m&ms, chips, and a few dips for people to munch on. The Mickey Mouse Oreo Favors were adorable and super easy to make! I did some on a stick and others just on a plate. The ones I wrapped and put a bow were part of the kids' take-homes. If you check out this blog Mickey Mouse Favors it will tell you how to make them. Her pictures are so much cuter than mine are too!

My sister made the cake from scratch and even made her own icing. It was delicious! She did use fondant for some parts and the characters on the cake are from a game my son had already.

Our party was a success! The kids were happy, the parents were relaxed, and I was worn out! All signs of a great party. I hope that this blog has helped with your party ideas! Have fun!
